Acer Aspire 5 A515: our reviews

20 March 2022
Are you searching for a good laptop with good features? For over a week, including the Black Friday weekend rush, I used it as my primary work vehicle. It loads the pages that I require. It can handle a lot of applications and apps without becoming too hot. This laptop is Acer Aspire 5 A515!
Manufacturing Acer Aspire 5 A515
This Aspire 5 variant is powered by a four-core Intel Core i5-1035G1, the same chipset that powers Microsoft’s Surface Laptop Go for the cheap and midrange market. It does the job in terms of performance, but the battery life is poor, and the integrated graphics are outdated at this point. I recommend buying the AMD variant with a six-core AMD Ryzen 5 4500U for the same price if you can find one.
Good stuffÂ
- Affordable
- Good port selection
- Great audio
- Comfortable backlit keyboard
Bad stuffÂ
- Bad battery life
- Off-center touchpad
- Feels like a budget laptop
- Bloat ware
QualityÂ
The Aspire 5 A515 performs admirably. It’s effective. It fulfills your requirements (at least until the battery runs out). Even several areas outperform its class – the audio is excellent, and having a fingerprint reader is convenient.
ProcessorÂ
However, if you can get all of those benefits plus a six-core AMD processor for the same (or similar) price, I don’t see why you shouldn’t go that path instead if you’re set on a 15-inch system. AMD systems are challenging to come by; however, I suggest looking around or waiting for one to become available. Suppose you can pay a little more for the Ryzen-powered Swift 3. In that case, you’ll notice a significant improvement in build quality and mobility, as well as multiple hours of additional battery life. I believe it is well worth the money for students and on-the-go employees.
Conclusion
There is some bloat ware present. I got a lot of obnoxious Norton pop-ups and notifications from different other apps that came pre-installed on the Aspire. At this price, they aren’t the end of the world, but keep in mind that you may have to take some. If the notifications are troubling you, it’s time to uninstall.
